
Offense Shines as Frisco Takes Opener in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri - The Frisco RoughRiders slugged three home runs on their way to a 10-6 win over the Springfield Cardinals on Tuesday night from Hammons Field. Dustin Harris, Sandro Fabian and Josh Stowers all went deep in the Riders victory.

The RoughRiders (12-10, 48-43) struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Kellen Strahm doubled down the third-base line, scoring Harris, to make it 1-0. Strahm doubled twice in the win, extending his on-base streak to 35 games.
In the top of the fourth, Frisco tacked on. Stowers singled in a run to increase the lead to 2-0 before Harris bashed a three-run home run to give the Riders a 5-0 advantage.
Trailing by five, Springfield (13-9, 44-47) clawed back with three runs in the fourth on a three-run home run by Malcom Nunez and two more to tie the game in the fifth.
Still knotted at 5-5 into the seventh, Strahm plated a run on an RBI fielder's choice and Fabian capped the inning with a two-run home run to give the Riders a 8-5 lead.
The Cardinals fired back in the bottom of the frame, scoring a run on a Nick Dunn RBI single to cut into the deficit at 8-6.
Stowers then put the nail in the coffin with a two-run home run in the ninth to give the Riders their decisive 10-6 lead.
Fernery Ozuna entered in the ninth inning from the Riders bullpen and stranded the bases loaded to finish off the victory.
Triston Polley (1-1) took home the victory for Frisco, throwing 0.2 scoreless innings, while Cardinals lefty Domingo Robles (2-5) was saddled with the loss.
Harris led the way offensively for the Riders with a season-best four hits. Stowers finished 3-for-5 with a homer and a double while Blaine Crim and Strahm also poured in two-hit efforts.
The Riders continue their six-game series against the Cardinals on Wednesday, July 27th at 6:35 p.m. from Hammons Field. Frisco has not announced a starter for game two yet, but Springfield will turn to RHP Gordan Graceffo (5-1, 3.21).
