
Odessa's Thinel Wins Oakley Three Stars Player of the Year

The Central Hockey League announced today that Sebastien Thinel of the Odessa Jackalopes has been named the Oakley Three Stars Player of the Year. In addition, the recently named CHL's Most Valuable Player also has won the Oakley Three Stars Award for the month of March/2009. Thinel will receive an Oakley Sports Watch and a pair of Oakley THUMP sunglasses which feature blue tooth technology and a built in MP3 player. Points are calculated with a first star notice earning five points, a second star earns three points and a first star recognition earns one point. The St. Jerome, Quebec native finished the season with 72 points accumulating nine first star nods, eight second star nods and he was named the third star three times. The closest competition to Thinel was Colorado goaltender Andrew Penner who finished the season with 58 points.
For the month of March, Thinel edged out Bossier-Shreveport's Joe Blaznek by four points. Thinel accumulated 19 points by receiving three first stars along with one second star and one third star.
