Oakley CHL Player & Goaltender of the Week Announced

The Week Five recipients of the Oakley Central Hockey League Player and Goaltender of the Week awards have been determined. Youngstown center Chris Richards becomes the season's first two-timer Oakley Player of the Week winner with a dozen points in three SteelHounds contests, while Colorado's Marco Emond improved his season record to 7-0-0 with a pair of wins and a shutout to earn selection as the Oakley Goaltender of the Week.
Youngstown's Richards, who finished 4th in CHL scoring last season with 92 points, is off to another fast start this year and scored four times and added eight assists in three home contests played the past week against the Tulsa Oilers. His biggest outing came in Saturday's 8-5 win, establishing a single game franchise record with six points (two goals and four assists). Four straight multiple point games have pushed him into second place in the season scoring race, and his 478 career points in the CHL now rank him 21st all-time.
Colorado's Emond maintained his unblemished record with the Eagles with a pair of victories over instate rival Rocky Mountain over the weekend. He made 31 saves Friday night in a 4-3 road win, helping thwart a late Rage rally with several key saves. The following night on home ice he was perfect, making 30 saves in a 6-0 win to record his first shutout of the season. His Saturday shutout victory also marked his 50th win in the CHL, previously recording 22 victories with Laredo in 2003-2004 and 21 last season with Tulsa.
