Chris Richards Named Oakley CHL Player of the Week

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League (CHL), announced today that Chris Richards has been named the Oakley CHL Player of the Week for the week of November 13th-19th. This marks the second time this season that Richards has won the weekly honor.

Over three games, the 5-10, 175-pound scored four goals and had eight assists while posting a +5 rating with 21 shots on goal. He currently ranks second in the CHL with 27 points and leads the league with 18 assists.

Richards stepped into the SteelHounds history books this past weekend setting a franchise record with six points in the Hounds 8-5 victory on Friday versus Tulsa. The night saw the Cornwall, Ontario native score two goals with four helpers. He followed that up with a four-point game (1-3=4) on Saturday in a one-goal loss. Earlier in the week, Richards had a goal and an assist in a shootout loss to the Oilers.

The CHL record books are also keeping close tabs on the former Ohio State Buckeye player is currently ranked 21st on the league's all-time point list with 478 points and is 15th on the league's all-time assist list with 327 helpers.

The veteran center is coming of a career season in 2005-06 that saw him score 22 goals with 70 assists ranking him among the top five in the league in points with 92.

The SteelHounds will continue their six-game home stand on Wednesday when they play the first of three games versus the Corpus Christi Rayz. Face-off for Wednesday's game is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
