Oakley CHL Player & Goaltender of the Week Announced

The Lubbock Cotton Kings have become the second Central Hockey League club to win both Oakley Player and Goaltender of the Week honors in the same week this season (along with the Wichita Thunder in Week 10) with forward Anders Strome and goaltender Shawn Conschafter selected as the recipients for week 18. All-Star Strome scored six goals in three Cotton King victories, while Conschafter earned his first shutout of the season and didn't allow a goal against in 80 minutes of play.
Strome scored twice, including the game winning goal, in a 4-3 home shootout win over San Angelo on February, 15th, and became the fourth player in the CHL to score four times in a single game on Saturday, accounting for all of the Cotton Kings scoring in a 4-0 home shutout of the Tulsa Oilers. Strome joins Odessa's Mike Rutter, Colorado's Riley Nelson and Wichita's Joe Blaznek with four goals in a game this year, with Strome the first to do so on home ice. Strome now ranks fifth in the CHL goal scoring race with 31, and leads the CHL with 10 game winning goals.
Conschafter recorded his first shutout of the season by turning aside all 37 shots faced on February 16th, leading Lubbock to a 3-0 road win at Corpus Christi. Saturday evening, he came in after 40 minutes of play to replace teammate Lance Leslie, and was again perfect, making 13 stops in an eventual 4-0 home shutout of Tulsa. The Buffalo, NY native attended the University of Vermont, and had stints with both Memphis and Austin prior to joining the Cotton Kings for the 2004-2005 season.
