November 17, 2021 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Northern Arizona Wranglers News Release
The Northern Arizona Wranglers have re-signed defensive back Emmanuel "Pop" Lacey. Lacey returns to the Wranglers for year two of his IFL career. In 2021, Lacey played in four games for the Wranglers, posting 29 total tackles, five pass breakups, and one interception. The Wranglers are ecstatic to see Lacey return for the 2022 season, as his work ethic, and passion for the game of football, makes him a standout player on the field.
Lacey is from Reading, Pa., where he started playing high school football at Berks Catholic High School. Before heading off to college, Lacey went to postgraduate school at Kent School, in Connecticut, where he earned his full-ride football scholarship to the University of New Hampshire. Lacey played the safety position at UNH for four seasons. He graduated in May of 2020, with his bachelor's degree in communications, with a minor in sports studies.
Lacey is excited to return to the Wranglers for his second season, as he stated: "The fans were amazing, and the organization holds themselves to a high standard." Prior to the 2021 season with the Wranglers, Lacey had never visited the state of Arizona. He referred to Arizona as "lively," and said that living in Prescott Valley, Ariz., raised his interest in a cross-country road trip. Lacey is eager to return for the season, and "win some games."
