North Shore starter Klae Calvert went seven innings, giving up eleven hits, four runs, no walks and striking out six, to win game one of the Northeast League Championship. Edison Reynoso picked up the save for North Shore. Spirit batters Joe Hastings and Travis Olgesby had two homeruns a piece and accounted for all the Spirit's offense. Leftfielder, Hastings had a two-run and solo shot and first baseman, Olgesby had two solo shots. New Jersey starter Aaron Myers went seven and a third innings, giving up six hits, five runs, three walks and striking out fourteen, but still got the loss. Despite giving up four homeruns, Jackals pitchers were still able to strike out Spirit hitters Mike Granger and Nilson Teilon four times a piece and Frank Charles three times. Rightfielder, Wady Almonte, led the Jackals' offense going 4-for-5 at the plate. New Jersey outhit the Spirit 12-6, but could not plate the tying run in the bottom of the ninth.
