TRAVERSE CITY, Mich: Tied 1-1 after the first period, the Traverse City North Stars applied the pressure and defeated the Motorcity Machine 5-1.
Adam Sponseller (Mt. Pleasant, MI) scored for the Machine on a powerplay in the first. Cody Holzworth (Grosse Ile, MI) and Nate Taurence (Trenton, MI) assisted.
Nathan Urbanik and Sean Burke each scored twice and Eric O'hearn added a powerplay goal for the North Stars.
The Machine finished 1-for-6 and the North Stars 3-for-8 on the powerplay.
Matthew Delaney (Houston, Tx) stopped 21 of 26 shots for the Machine and CJ Motte 25 of 26 for Traverse City.
