North Shore Navigators News Release

There still may be snow on the ground but the North Shore Navigators are thinking spring as they have begun to announce players for the upcoming summer season. The first two players announced are a pair of pitchers from Tufts University.

The first pitcher is left-hander Tim Superko. Superko, a native of Wellesley, MA, is currently in his sophomore year at Tufts University. Last season Superko was extremely effective for the Jumbos as he appeared in 13 games including 9 starts going 4-2 with a 2.64 ERA. Superko recorded 51 strikeouts in 58 innings while keeping opposing hitters to a .231 batting average. Superko, a graduate of Phillips Andover, will look to earn a spot in the Navigators' starting rotation.

Joining Superko on the Navigators is sophomore Speros Varinos. Varinos, a native of Middleton, MA, was primarily a relief pitcher for the Jumbos in 2014. Varinos appeared in 14 games for Tufts and finished the season with a record of 2-0 with an ERA of 4.40. He was able to hold opposing batters to a .239 average while accumulating two saves. Varinos, a graduate of Masconomet High School, will look to provide strong relief for the Navigators' starting pitchers during the season.

"We are extremely excited to have Tim and Speros join us for the upcoming season," said General Manager Bill Terlecky. "Tufts has a very reputable baseball program and both of these players are local talent. We are excited to watch them play in 2015"

The Navigators open up their home season on Saturday, June 6th as they play host to the Seacoast Mavericks. For tickets please visit our website www.nsnavs.com or give us a call at (781)595-9400.
