Nords Fall to the Titans in Game 2

December 18, 2021 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Maine Nordiques News Release

The Nordiques were taking on the first place New Jersey Titans for the first time this season at the Colisee.

The first period started with some good fast pace back and forth action. After both teams were denied from a couple of rush chances, the Titans were the first ones to find the back of the net at the 14:07 marker. The Titans would then add another just one minute later to go up 2-0 on a power play goal. The Nordiques would then dump the puck into the zone and use their grit along the boards and speed to get the puck back to Evan Orloff for a one time blast that found the back of the net for his first of the season. 2-1 Titans after the first.

The second period started on a high note as Jacob Pellerin found Matt Connor in his own zone. Matt Connor would then look up and find an open Zion Green who would burry a breakaway goal just 3:47 into the frame to tie it up at two. Unfortunately, the Titans would respond on a power play goal to take the lead back at 3-2. The Nordiques would then get a power play directly after but came up empty as the man advantage went 0/2. The Nordiques got a couple good scoring chances but were shut down by the Titans goalie. The score would remain a 1 goal game 3-2 after the second.

The third period started with both teams still looking for an odd man rush the other way and with the Nords looking to tie it up. At the 8:47 marker the Titans got another goal to give them a two goal lead. The Nordiques had a power play with less than 3 minutes left and pulled Avery Sturtz who finished with 46/50 stops but couldn't find the back of the Net and fall 4-2 to the Titans.

Next up is game two tomorrow at 7pm when the Nordiques take on the Titans for their last contest before Christmas at the Colisee.
