Nordiques 2023 Draft Recap

The 2023 NAHL draft took place on June 14th and saw the Nordiques take nine players from three different countries. Head Coach, Nick Skerlick, was looking to draft some high powered offense going into the draft, making sure he got offensive and then some!

With their first round pick, 22nd overall, the Maine Nordiques Selected Olivier Lamothe!

Oliver is a '03 birth year player who put up huge numbers last season including; 39 points to go along with 19 goals. Oliver is a center, native of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, and is a left shot who looks to continue his dominance in the NAHL.

The Nordiques didn't have a second round pick, but they did have a third round pick, and with their third round pick, and 14th overall pick in the round, the Maine Nordiques selected Cody Pisarcyzk! Cody is an '04 forward with a right shot who is a dynamic forward that can explode with the puck. Cody can score and find an open seam to make a pass with ease and brings a hard nosed work ethic. He sported twenty points with ten goals last season with the Drayton Valley Thunder in the AJHL.

The Nordiques then had three picks in the fourth round adding more firepower to their roster. They selected with their first fourth round pick, the 12th pick in the round, forward Ashton Paul! Ashton is an '04 birth year player who hails from Northern Canada. Ashton is a 6'2 forward with elite scoring skill and racked up 56 points in 57 games played last season in the MJHL. Ashton's offensive ability and slick skating will transfer quickly and seamlessly to the NAHL level.

With their second fourth round pick, 22nd overall in the round, the Maine Nordiques are proud to select impressive '05 goaltender Carter Richardson! Carter brings in a calm demeanor in the net, he is a strong mobile goaltender who is 6'2 and had an impressive season with the Silverbacks in the BCHL, and is a Boston hockey academy alumni where he had a stellar 2.07 GAA.

With their third and final fourth round pick, 31st overall in the round, the Nordiques selected Cole Hipkin! Cole is committed to St Lawrence and brings in an offensive mindset that will lead the Nordiques on the offensive side of the puck and has a lethal shot that will beat goaltenders with ease. The '03 birth year right shot forward hails from Brantford Ontario Canada and put up 35 points in 47 games in the AJHL last season including nine points in the playoffs.

With their fifth round pick, 22nd overall in the round, the Maine Nordiques selected Jakob Krizan! Jakob hails from Slovakia and most recently played with the South Kent school. Jakob is a left shot forward who put up 40 points last season and is a gritty, hard nosed player who can win battles along the boards and find the back of the net.

With their sixth round pick, 12th overall in the round The Maine Nordiques selected defenseman Lucas DiChiara.

Luke is an '04 defenseman who has NAHL experience with the Danbury Hat Tricks. Lucas has played under Head Coach Nick Skerlick and has recorded 7 points in 42 games played with the Hat Tricks in the 2021-2022 season.

With their second 6th round pick, 22nd overall in the round, the Maine Nordiques selected forward Cameron Stehle.

Cam is a '06 birth year forward from North Carolina who put up impressive numbers with the North Jersey Avalanche last season including 118 points in 67 games played. Cam is an impressive forward who has a natural ability to find the net and looks to translate his play into the NAHL level and impress Nordique Nation! With their last pick in the 2023 NAHL Draft, the Nordiques select with their seventh round pick, 22nd overall in the round, the Nordiques select Alec Waller from the Gillette Wild NA3HL.

Alec is a right shot defenseman from Minnesota and recorded 49 points last season in 45 games played. Alec also put up 2 points in the Fraser cup playoffs. The '04 defenseman is looking to make the jump next season to the NAHL level.
