Elmira Jackals News Release
Like the Soup Nazi from TV's Seinfeld, the Richmond Riverdogs refused to serve the Jackals any offense Wednesday night in Virginia as they shutout the Jackals 3-0. Elmira continued their recent trend of out-shooting their opponents on the road, but failing to find the back of the net; they out shot Richmond 29-25 in the game.
After a hard-fought, scoreless first period Richmond grabbed the lead for good with two goals in the span of three minutes in the middle frame. David Brosseau scored on a blazing slapshot from the face-off circle, and Brian Goudie's strike came on the power play. Luch Nasato capped off the scoring with a third period shot from the blue line as Elmira struggled to beat Maxime Gingras, who has had the Jackals number lately.
Gingras finished with 29 saves for his 4th shutout of the year, while Peter Aubry took the loss, stopping 22 of 25.
Elmira begins a weekend First Arena triple-header Friday night against those same Riverdogs, at 7 pm. Saturday Port Huron comes to town, the weekend finished with a four o'clock Sunday matinee against the Adirondack IceHawks.
