ALBANY, NY - The National Lacrosse League (NLL) unveiled the playoff scenarios ahead of the final week of the regular season and the Albany FireWolves control their own destiny this weekend. Albany will wrap up their inaugural regular season at home against the New York Riptide at 7 p.m. on Saturday with a playoff berth guaranteed following a victory. If Albany earns a playoff spot, they would face the top seed in either the Eastern or Western Conference (depending on their placement) in a one-game matchup on the road.

Entering this weekend, the FireWolves sit in the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference with an 8-9 overall record. Albany can clinch an Eastern Conference berth and the fourth overall seed with a victory over the Riptide AND if the Georgia Swarm fall to the Philadelphia Wings. With the Buffalo Bandits having secured the top seed in the Eastern bracket, Albany would face Buffalo for the third time if they clinched the Eastern Conference Berth.

Regardless of the outcome in Albany on Saturday night, if the Wings lose to the Swarm, the FireWolves would clinch the Wildcard berth and be the fourth seeded team in the Western bracket. In this scenario, the FireWolves would travel to the top seeded Western team which is still to be determined this weekend. If Albany comes up short at home AND Philadelphia defeats Georgia, the FireWolves will be eliminated from playoff contention.

Albany would beat out the Saskatchewan Rush and the Panther City Lacrosse Club for the fourth spot in the Western Bracket due to a series of tiebreaker scenarios. The FireWolves defeated the Rush earlier this season, giving Albany the head-to-head tiebreaker over Saskatchewan. Albany would top Panther City as well due to the FireWolves' greater strength of victory. Albany's worst-case scenario strength of victory record would be 69-75, whereas Panther City's best-case scenario would amount to just 68-76, giving the edge to the FireWolves should the two teams tie in record after Saturday night.

Ticket information for a potential home playoff game will be released at a later date.
