The Tucson Sidewinders posted a victory to even up the series 1-1 with the Fresno Grizzlies with 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th. 1B Alan Zinter won the game with a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring LF Victor Hall, who reached third base with a game-tying triple.
For Tucson, RHP Scott Service pitched 1 inning of scoreless relief to pick up his 3rd win of the year. CF Luis Terrero backed up his league-leader status by collecting 4 RBIs on 2 home runs. One shot cleared the green monster in center field, and his second was of the inside the park variety. He now has hit safely in 9 consecutive games, the longest streak of any 2004 Sidewinder. C Juan Brito also homered for Tucson, it was his first of the season and he finished the day 1-4 with a run scored and 2 RBIs.
For Fresno, RHP Lee Gardner pitched 1.2 innings to take the loss. He allowed 2 runs, both earned, on 3 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 1 Tucson batter. 3B Brian Dallimore connected on 4 hits in 5 at bats driving in 2 and scoring 2. CF Adam Shabala hit his second homer of the year with a solo shot in the 5th. He finished with 2 hits.
With the victory, Tucson improved their overall record to 11-6, and kept their daytime record perfect at 5-0. With the loss, Fresno fell to 4-14, good for last place in the Southern division.
2,817 people, and 211 of their dogs attended for Bark In The Park Day. The game lasted 3:13. Probables for tomorrow's 6:30 PM start will feature LHP Noah Lowry (0-1, 4.32) for Fresno facing Tucson right-hander Edgar Gonzalez (0-2, 5.82).
