Fresno Downs Tucson 10-4

The Fresno Grizzlies picked up their 4th victory of the year by defeating the Tucson Sidewinders 10-4 Saturday. It was a home run derby for Fresno as they pounded out 4 against Tucson pitchers, two of them coming from RF Robert Stratton, his first bombs of the season.

RHP Ryan Jensen picked up the win for the Grizzlies pitching 5.2 innings, surrendering 3 runs on 10 hits while striking out 3. Jensen improved his record to 2-1.

Other than Stratton, who finished the night 2-5 with 2 runs and 4 RBIs, Fresno received solid offensive production from CF Jason Ellison, who went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and a solo home run in the 4th. 3B Brain Dallimore also homered for Fresno with a solo shot to lead off the 5th. He closed out the night 2-4, with a run scored and 2 RBIs. Clean up man SS Deivi Cruz also had 3 hits for the Grizzlies.

Despite only scoring 4 runs on the night, Tucson managed to put up a 15 spot in the hits column. 1B Steve Neal, who entered the game in the 2nd for C Craig Ansman, had the biggest hit of the night for Tucson with a 2-run double in the 6th. A total of six Sidewinders had multi-hit nights.

LHP Jim Parque took the loss for Tucson pitching 4 innings, and giving up 8 runs, all earned on 11 hits. His record dropped to 0-1 on the season. The win upped the Gizzlies record to 4-13, while Tucson dropped to 10-6.

Tomorrow's probables for the 2:00 PM, Sunday afternoon game will feature RHP Phil Stockman (1-0, 1.00) for Tucson while Fresno's starter is yet to be announced.
