The entire team contributed on a night the Sound dressed only 8 players. Strong Island led by as much as 30 points in the second half and had 100 total points with four minutes left in the 3rd quarter. The Nighthawks were led by Anton Jenifer with 24 points in 28 minutes. Former Vancouver Grizzlie and Washington Wizard Lawrence Moten had 11 points in 29 minutes.

Gary Williams was asked following the win what the team did different from their last meeting in Maryland, when the Sound let a double-digit halftime lead slip away. "Preparation. People stepped up and we stayed together. This was a total team effort, a big win". Williams stated when asked about the important 3 point shots that he made in the first half, "I do what's asked of me. I was playing the ‘4' and had a mismatch on me. If I don't have the shot I can make that extra pass".

The Sound improved their season record to 12-14 with the win and were ranked 16th heading into the game. The Sound are looking to stay in the top 16 to ensure a home playoff game. With the loss Maryland falls to 19-7.
