Knoxville NightHawks News Release
Knoxville, TN- The Knoxville Nighthawks (1-6) take on the Columbus Lions (4-3) at the Civic Coliseum on Saturday, April 12th at 7pm for Military Appreciation Night presented by the Tennessee Air National Guard.
The Nighthawks are coming off of a spectacular 64-61 win against the Alabama Hammers last weekend and looking forward to another win this weekend.
"We are looking forward to playing the Lions for the second time this season. The first time that we played them in Columbus we felt like we gave them the game. We are planning on keeping the ball rolling and continuing to build on last week's win. However, we know that it will be a tough game to play," said Coach Chris MacKeown.
Columbus also won this weekend after an end of regulation field goal by kicker Trey Crum to help end the Albany Panthers perfect record this season.
Knoxville has had an exciting week with wide receiver Ryan Schuck and defensive back Ginikachi Ibe winning the Professional Indoor Football League's Player of the Week. Schuck had 144 yards receiving with 5 touchdowns, including both touchdowns in overtime. Ibe ended the game with 2 interceptions with a 27 yard touchdown, 2 solo tackles, and 3 assisted tackles.
"Never in my 13 year career have I had the league's offensive & defensive Player of the Week in the same week. Nobody on our team out works those two players in practice," said MacKeown.
In honor of Military Appreciation Night, all military personal that displays their military ID when purchasing their ticket to Saturday's game will receive a special $8 ticket.
KBM, Inc. has donated tickets for all children 12 years old and younger to get into the game for free with a purchase of an adult ticket.
