Maryland NightHawks News Release
Rockville, MD. ABA Maryland Nighthawks head coach, Keith Williams, was recently featured on Comcast Sports Net working out current Dallas Maverick forward and former George Washington star Pops Mensah-Bonsu.
Williams, who is entering his second season as Nighthawks head coach, spends his off seasons as a personal trainer working out a number of local area players. Along with Pops, Williams' prestigious clientele includes Steve Francis (Knicks), Chris Wilcox (Sonics), and Jarrett Jack (Trailblazers).
Williams sees Pops, projected to be a first round pick two years ago but went undrafted after returning for his senior season which was cut short by injuries, as "a great addition to the Dallas Mavericks team. His style of play fits the style of the Mavericks," Williams added. "What I try to do with Pops is get him to maximize his opportunities on the court as well as teach him to be a better shooter because all the he's really missing is that nice shooting touch and with proper repetition, he will."
Williams is also looking forward to the upcoming ABA season and "expects to have another great season." Williams believes "the experience of last seasons Great Eight finish should go a long ways in terms of getting us to that next level. The ABA is growing and so are the Nighthawks. I can't wait for the kickoff of the season...watch out ABA, here comes the Mighty Nighthawks."
