Maryland NightHawks News Release

Washington, DC. The ABA Maryland Nighthawks were on hand Saturday as the Freddie Mac's Hoops for the Homeless tournament at the Verizon Center in Washington DC. This exciting 3-on-3 charitable basketball tournament helped raise money to benefit and aid children and families who are homeless. Basketball for a great cause, talk about a slam dunk!

Attending the event were Nighthawks' guards Randy "White Chocolate" Gill and Frank "The Sniper" McQueen, both serving as celebrity coaches, along with Nighthawks' co-owner Jeanette McCool, Asst GM David Lasday and Director of Marketing Adam Dantus. Joining Gill and McQueen on the bench were former Redskins legends Art Monk, Darrell Green, Ken Harvey and Brian Mitchell, current Washington Redskins Shawn Springs, Washington Wizards Donell Taylor, Washington Mystics Nikki Teasley, Baltimore Ravens Adalius Thomas (former Nighthawks 13th man) and Mark Clayton, and a great number of other local area sports icons.

To top off this magical event was the presence of NBA Legend and former LA Lakers guard Earvin "Magic" Johnson. Magic Johnson, a strong contributor to the event, had a chance to catch up with Nighthawks guard and good friend Randy "White Chocolate" Gill. Gill won Magic Johnson's MTV reality television show "Who's Got Game" in 2003 by beating eleven other legendary streetball players to win the $100,000 first prize which was seen by over one hundred million viewers worldwide.
