Arizona Sundogs News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs announced today that the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes are coming to the Prescott Valley area for training camp in October.
The Coyotes will make a three-day trip to the area and practice on the mornings of October 3rd and 4th as part of their preparation for the upcoming 2011-12 NHL season.
"We're obviously excited to welcome the Coyotes to the area," said Sundogs General Manager Chris Presson. "This is a chance for our fans to see something unique - NHL Training Camp. The practices are open for the fans to come watch. It's the highest level of hockey, and it's a chance to continue growing the sport here in the state of Arizona."
Both practices are scheduled for a 10:00 AM start time at Tim's Toyota Center and should conclude around noon. Fans will have the opportunity to enjoy an autograph session after the October 3rd practice.
"We're looking forward to our team's trip to Prescott in early October," added Coyotes Head Coach Dave Tippett. "It will be a good opportunity for our players to practice and spend some quality time together before the start of the regular season. We hope all the great hockey fans in the area will enjoy watching us at Tim's Toyota Center."
The trip will also mark the return of former Sundogs defenseman, David Schlemko.
"Prescott Valley was a great place to start my pro career," said Schlemko. "The fans were great and I'm looking forward to spending some time there during training camp this season."
Schlemko began his professional career in 2007-08, appearing in 58 games for the Sundogs and winning the 2008 Central Hockey League President's Cup. Schlemko finished with 10 goals and 29 assists during his rookie season in Prescott Valley.
