NHL Anaheim Assigns Bolt To 'Jacks
October 28, 2009 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, MI.--- Entering the third week of the early, infant season with a record of 4(2-2-0), the Muskegon Lumber-jacks of the International Hockey League continue to move forward expressly to further upgrade their roster for the 2009-10 campaign. One more step in that direction has been realized and it comes from a somewhat unexpected source.
On this date, the Lumberjacks have announced that the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League have assigned left wing BOBBY BOLT to Muskegon for the 2009-10 IHL season. Bolt is expected to touch down in his new town of pro hockey employment in time to be present and accounted for 10:00 am practice Wednesday morning at Walker Arena.
BOLT, 22, is presently in his third pro season with all of his relatively short pro career, thus far, spent in the Anaheim organization. The strapping 6-4, 219lb product of Thunder Bay, Ontario was originally the Ducks fifth round selection, 127th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
The newest member of the Lumberjacks commenced the current campaign in the ECHL with the Bakersfield Condors where he also performed in the 2008-09 season. In 2-games with the Northern California based squad, he accumulated 7-PIM. His best pro results to date transpired in his rookie pro season in 2007-08 with the Augusta Lynx of the ECHL where in 62-games, he composed 26-points on 15-goals, 11-assists along with 45-PIM. In the playoffs in that same season, he was 5(1-0-1) with 7-PIM. The powerful left-hand shooting forward has also seen a pair of stints in the AHL when Anaheims primary affiliate was the Portland Pirates in 2006-07 and, again, in 2007-08.
Lumberjacks Head Coach Rich Kromm is looking forward to infusing another big, physical presence in his lineup. We are enthused to receive Bobby as an assigned player under contract from Anaheim. He is a big guy with really good speed and a strong shot. He brings to our club a physical game as a solid power forward. We think that he will beef-up and bolster our lineup up front.
Prior to his pro premiere, Bolt achieved an outstanding four-year major junior A career in the prestigious OHL, playing the latter three years with the Kingston Frontenacs. His best season there came in 2006-07 when he collected 50-points in 62-games on 22-goals, 28-assists with 70-PIM. He capped that particular campaign with 6-points in 5-playoff games on 5(0-6-6) with 4-PIM.
Bolt will make his Muskegon debut this Friday night, October 30th when the Jacks conclude a 4-game homestand against the Dayton Gems in a 7:00 pm face-off. It will be Pink the Rink Night as the Lumberjacks don specially-trimmed pink jerseys in showing their support in the fight against breast cancer. The jerseys will be auctioned after the game with a portion of the proceeds donated to help local breast cancer patients through the Johnson Family Center.
The Lumberjacks will also donate $2 from every group ticket and $1 from every adult ticket purchased at the Walker Arena Box Office on this special night.
