December 29, 2012 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tucson Padres News Release

NFL scouts and personnel will converge in Tucson the week leading up to the Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game on Friday, January 11 at Kino Stadium starting at 7:00 pm. Both teams will hold daily workouts on the side fields next to Kino Stadium starting January 7 and scouts will be there to evaluate the talented invitees from College Football. Last year, six players on the inaugural Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game rosters were drafted by NFL teams and 61 others were signed to free agent contracts. 31 of 32 NFL teams had scouts present, including Green Bay Packers GM Ted Thompson and San Francisco 49ers GM Trent Baalke.

The NFL scouts will have full access to players for weigh-ins and one-on-one interviews. "As a former NFL scout, I know the importance of getting personal time with the players to learn more about their backgrounds. We allow full access to the players prior to and following practice. It is my job to make sure scouts can get their work done on these fine players." said Joe Dan Rogers, Executive Director of the Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game. "We want to be as helpful as possible in connecting the prospects with NFL team personnel."

Players who participated in last year's Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game seeing regular time in the NFL this season include starters Donnie Barclay (OT - Green Bay), Dennis Kelly (OG - Philadelphia), Jeremy Lane (CB - Seattle); reserve players include Lance Dunbar (RB - Dallas), Gino Gradkowski (OG - Baltimore), Ish Kitchen (DT - Cleveland) and many others.

The Tucson Padres front office staff is assisting the 2013 Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game operations. The game will be televised on the ESPN family of networks, including ESPN3 and WatchESPN.com. The game will be carried on radio locally on ESPN Tucson 1490 AM and 104.9 FM. Partners for the game include the Tucson Conquistadores, a charitable organization that supports youth in athletic programs throughout southern Arizona.
