News Florida Launch Fall to Unbeaten Denver Outlaws

May 13, 2017 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Florida Launch News Release

BOCA RATON, Fla. - After fighting an early lead set by the Denver Outlaws, the Launch ultimately fell 15-8 to the defending MLL champions in their return to FAU Stadium.

Denver struck early in the first quarter, dominating with three unanswered goals from Matt Kavanagh and Michael Bocklet. The second quarter proved to be stronger for the Launch, who tallied five goals from Jimmy Dailey, Martin Bowes, Connor Buczek, Chazz Woodson, and Steven Brooks.

Struggling to find the back of the net, the Launch fought to hold off the Outlaws in the third quarter. Despite a strong showing by Florida's Austin Kaut, Denver managed a three-goal scoring run that would put them up 13-5 moving into the final quarter.

Though the Launch entered the fourth with energy, starting off the period with a three-goal run, they could not hold off the Outlaws long enough to close the gap. The Launch slip to 1-2 on the season.

"We got a lot of shots, I think if you go back and look at the tape, we had a lot of quality shots. It just happened to be that that goalie was on fire. Kaut played great, they just happened to get a few more by."-Assistant Coach Brian Duncan

"Some bad breaks obviously hurt us defensively, where a couple of tipped balls they took advantage of. You know, offensively we weren't in sync for most of that game. I'd say we only played 40 minutes of good lacrosse. We let ourselves get away from it a little bit." - Connor Buczek (2G, 1A)

Connor Buczek had two goals and one assist.

Jimmy Dailey tallied one goals.

Chazz Woodson scored one goal and tallied one assist.

Austin Kaut had 21 saves on 35 SOGs (.600).

Attendance for tonight's game was 2,291.

The Launch head out on a three-game road trip before returning to FAU Stadium to face the New York Lizards on June 10.
