Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
The Shreveport Mudbugs (29-11-2) got a big contribution from their newest acquisition to grind out a 2-1 victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays and extend their win streak to six games at the American Bank Center Thursday night.
After a scoreless period, Hayden Nichol broke the ice with a blistering shot from the LW circle which got into the net in a hurry to give the Bugs a 1-0 lead at 7:16 of the second. Chase Murray earned the only helper on the game's first goal. CC responded at 8:48 when Derek Pietrzyk fired in his first goal of the year from the RW circle to even the score, 1-1. SHV led in SOG, 17-12 after two.
SHV untied the game at 11:40 as Brayden Cook found some space in the slot and wired home his ninth goal of the year off a brilliant play from Brent Litchard and new guy Seth Murch to picked up his first assist in his Mudbug debut to give the visiting team a 2-1 lead. The Bugs held off a furious surge from Corpus Christi to complete a greasy 2-1 victory which extended their win streak to six games.
Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau made 17 saves to earn his 19th win in net.
The Bugs and IceRays will continue their three-game series tomorrow night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from the American Bank Center.
