
Newark Police vs. Newark Fire Department Softball Tournament

Newark, NJ - The Newark Bears will be hosting the Newark Police vs. Newark Fire Department Softball Tournament at the Riverfront Stadium on August 21, 2011 at 9:00am. This tournament is to benefit the Children of Newark's Fallen Heroes. The Newark Police and Fire Department will be raising money for the Children of Fallen Hero's scholarship fund by giving part of their proceeds from tickets sales. During the tournament, the Newark Fire Department will be helping Muscular Dystrophy Association to raise money by having Fill the Boot. They will also be doing Fill the Boot between Aug. 22nd-26th around Newark. The Newark Bears will be donating all proceeds from our famous Launch a Ball game after the softball tournament to Muscular Dystrophy Association.
After the softball tournament, we will be honoring baseball's negro leagues with a meet & greet with ex-players and coaches before our home game. During the game, we will be honoring the history of the Negro League.
