Newark Bears Acquire Infielder Bridger Hunt

The Newark Bears have announced the addition of infielder Bridger Hunt to its 2013 Spring Training roster.

Hunt (LS-5) was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 9th round of the 2006 MLB June Amateur Draft. He played four seasons in the Dodgers' minor league system before joining the independent ranks in 2011.

In 2012, Hunt spent time with four different independent league clubs, including the Lancaster Barnstormers, Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, Kansas City T-Bones and Grand Prairie AirHogs. He finished the season with a .286 batting average, recording 66 hits in 74 games.

Hunt and the 2013 Newark Bears will open up the season on Friday, May 17 at 7:05 p.m. at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium.
