Shock 64, Liberty 63 (June 1, 2006 - Detroit, MI): The Liberty came up just short of its first victory of the season in Thursday night's loss to the Shock at The Palace...New York came out determined in the opening minutes pushing to a seven point lead (15-8) behind sharp shooting from Ashley Battle who connected on two consecutive bombs from beyond the arc...New York went on to dominate the second quarter, shooting an impressive .500 from the field...Rookie Sherill Baker provided a spark off the bench scoring ten points and helping the Liberty head into the half with a four point advantage, 31-27...Detroit returned after the half experiencing their first lead of the game since the 8:01 mark in the first quarter (33-31)...The Shock went on a 7-0 run late in the final frame that pushed them to a one point lead, 57-56...New York continued to battle through the final seconds with Battle connecting on a clutch 3-pointer with 12.5 remaining (61-61) and then converting two key free-throws that gave New York its final lead...Deanna Nolan connected on a running lay-up as the clock ticked down to capture the Detroit victory, 64-63...The two teams experienced 12 lead changes and nine ties in their hard fought battle with the Liberty finishing with three players in double-digits (Battle 18, Baker 18, Farris 13), Detroit was led by Swin Cash who finished with a game-high 20 points.
Fever 91, Liberty 70 (May 30, 2006 - Indianapolis, IN): New York opened its third road game evenly matched with the Fever as the two teams traded baskets in the opening period, experiencing three ties and seven lead changes...Kelly Schumacher got off to a hot start blocking Ebony Hoffman's 4-foot jumper in the opening minutes of the period and recording six of her 13 points...Indiana asserted its dominance in the second period, widening the gap between the two teams by jumping out to a 20-point lead (51-31) with 13.9 seconds remaining in the half...New York chipped away at the Fever's lead bringing the score to 60-51 off a three-point shot from Becky Hammon - which would amount to the smallest margin they would experience the rest of the game...Hammon finished the quarter with 12 of her team-high 20 points...Despite out-shooting Indiana in the second half .467 to .421, the Liberty came up short in its third consecutive game on the road...Indiana was led by Tan White, off the bench, who finished with a game-high 25 points on 10-15 shooting from the field...New York finished with three starters in double-figures (Hammon 20, Schumacher 13, Christon 12).

New York vs. Los Angeles
The Liberty will celebrate its 10th Anniversary at Madison Square Garden during the team's first home game against Los Angeles this afternoon ... Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at The Garden ... The game will be broadcast live on ABC ... New York currently holds an 0-4 record on the season ... Los Angeles is currently 3-2.

TENDING THE GARDEN: Today the Liberty finally return to The Garden for its first home match-up of the season...Not since the 1998 season, when New York spent its first five games on the road, has the Liberty had a four-game road stand to open the season...New York has an all-time home record of 101-43 with a 6-4 record when facing Los Angeles...The team looks to improve upon both today at MSG.
IT'S A CELEBRATION!: The New York Liberty asks its fans to join in celebrating the team's 10th Anniversary as a charter member of the Women's National Basketball Association...In honor of the success New York has experienced as a franchise, they welcome Liberty legends Teresa Weatherspoon, Rebecca Lobo, Sue Wicks and Kym Hampton to the Garden today for pre-game festivities.

Not to mention that she was a five time All-Star, the Defensive Player of the Year on two occasions, and is the Liberty's all-time leader in assists, 2nd overall in WNBA history.
