Abilene Prairie Dogs News Release
FORT WORTH, TX - In an attempt to bolster an already superb bullpen, the Prairie Dogs added right-hander Mitch Mormann to the fold on Saturday morning. He replaces Justin Braddock who made a brief two-game stay with Dogs but did not appear in game action. Braddock moves to the inactive list.
Mormann is a 6'6", 250 lbs righty who pitched his redshirt senior season at Wichita State in 2012. This past spring with the Shockers, Mormann appeared 15 times (12 starts) and posted a 3-3 record to go with a 3.91 ERA. In 53 innings pitched, he allowed 45 hits, walked 31 batters, and struck out 28.
The tall righty is a former 25th round draft selection of the Detroit Tigers. According to the official Wichita State athletics website, the Perfect Game publication ranked him the sixth best prospect in the California Collegiate League.
The Dogs will be back in action on Saturday night when they begin a three-game set in Fort Worth. Hear the game on 106.9 KLGD or on the internet at abileneprairiedogs.com.
