New Orleans VooDoo News Release
The New Orleans VooDoo made several roster moves today, increasing their depth at the WR/DB, OL/DL and FB/LB positions through the improved health of their players and one signing. The team announced today that they have moved WR/DB Luke Leverson and OL/DL Sean Powell from the injured reserve list to the active roster. They have also signed FB/LB Jason Bratton. In order to comply with the mandated AFL 24-man roster level, the team placed FB/LB Michael Blair (groin) on the injured reserve list and waived FB/LB Mario Evans and OL/DL Sacha Lancaster. The team also waived QB Lionel Hayes from the practice squad.
Bratton, 6-0, 242, is a six-year Arena Football veteran who comes to the VooDoo after spending the 2003 season and 2004 training camp with the Carolina Cobras. Bratton, who played at Grambling from 1992-95, has played with four teams during his career and played for New Orleans coach Mike Neu, when Neu was an assistant coach with the Nashville Kats from 1998-99 and when he served as offensive coordinator with the Cobras in 2001. Bratton enjoyed his finest AFL season under Neu in 2001, when he carried the ball 43 times for 112 yards and a career-high 10 touchdowns, setting a Cobras franchise record for rushing touchdowns in a single season. During his career, Bratton has rushed 177 times for 552 yards with 25 touchdowns.
