New Mexico United News Release

Albuquerque, NM - New Mexico United is thrilled to announce the trade acquisition of Jerome Kiesewetter ahead of the 2022 USL Championship season. Kiesewetter is a proven goalscorer with the ability to change any match in which he appears. He comes to United via a trade with FC Tulsa for forward Brian Brown - the first trade in New Mexico United history.

"Jerome provides an immediate presence on the field," said New Mexico United Head Coach and Technical Director Zach Prince. "He has a natural instinct inside the box that makes him a very dangerous forward. We are excited to add Jerome to our attacking core."

Kiesewetter has appeared in 250 matches across various pro and youth leagues in the United States and Germany, scoring 42 total goals over that time. In 2019, he made his USL Championship debut for El Paso Locomotive FC, scoring 10 goals in his first 10 matches, and finishing with 12 on the season.

Following his successful run in El Paso, Kiesewetter made appearances for Inter Miami CF in the MLS is Back Tournament and 2020 MLS Regular Season. He also made seven appearances with Miami's USL League 1 affiliate, Fort Lauderdale CF. In 2021, Kiesewetter made 20 appearances with FC Tulsa and Sacramento Republic FC.

Kiesewetter has represented the United States in international play at the U-18, U-20, U-23 and Senior levels, totaling 31 international appearances and eight goals, and is the first US international in United's history. He was born in Berlin, Germany, and was brought up in the Hertha BSC youth system. His pro career began in 2012/2013 with VfB Stuttgart, eventually leading to a debut in the Bundesliga in 2015.
