Odessa Jackalopes News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - There was only one goal scored on Monday afternoon. It came off the stick of New Mexico forward Dillan Bentley at the 19:13 mark of the first period. With less than a minute to go, the Jackalopes (7-10-2-0) surrendered the only goal of the contest, as they fell 1-0 to the Ice Wolves (5-11-1-0) at the NYTEX Sports Center on Monday afternoon.
The Jackalopes had chances to be sure, but every time they came close it was a close save by New Mexico goaltender Beni Halasz or an inconvenient post that denied Odessa the equalizer. One of the best chances came on a three-on-one in the second period as Nick Siffringer sent a saucer pass over to Charlie Banquier who shot it back to his right and but right into the catching glove of Halasz. The Jackalopes out-shot the Ice Wolves for the second straight night in a row, 27-15 and held and advantage in time of possession.
However, the Jacks were held scoreless on the power play on Monday going zero-for-three. Their penalty kill continued its strong performance against a top power play unit in New Mexico as the Jackalopes successfully skated off four power plays for the Ice Wolves.
Still searching for their first win of 2021, the Jackalopes will have another opportunity for it on Friday when they travel back to North Richland Hills for a series with the Lone Star Brahmas. Odessa is 2-1-0 against Lone Star so far this season.
