New Food Items Announced

March 21, 2007 - Midwest League (MWL) - West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The West Michigan Whitecaps announced Wednesday the new concession food items that fans will get a first taste of this season at Fifth Third Ballpark.

Two of the items that will take fans by storm this season are Deep Fried Pepsi and Robinette's Apple Cider Malts. Also joining the food choices at Fifth Third Ballpark will be Pepperoni Bosco Sticks, Cheddar Munchers, Pretzel Buns and fresh Chicken Salad in a wrap or waffle cone.

Deep Fried Pepsi is a one-of-a-kind snack that features Pepsi flavored batter shaped into spheres, deep fried, and drizzled with Pepsi syrup and Pepsi flavored frosting topped with whip cream. The item will be available at the Sweet Meats Smokehouse down the third base line. The apple cider malt is Robinette's apple cider mixed with cinnamon, spices and vanilla ice cream for a West Michigan first and original drink. The drink will be served in a large Tiki Cup and sold along the concourse at the Tiki Hut.

"We spent a large portion of the offseason meeting with our vendors and brokers to come up with new, exciting items that will get people talking this summer at Fifth Third Ballpark," said Matt Timon, Whitecaps Food and Beverage Director. "I feel these products add to the quality of great food already at the ballpark, and I think fans will enjoy themselves and make the new items a hit this season."

The pretzel bun will be offered as an alternative to a regular bun that will be available in the grill areas as well as in selected locations as a premium sandwich option. Fans can choose to have the new pretzel bun on favorites such as the pork chop sandwich and the famous ballpark hamburgers.

Another new item is chicken salad that will be available in a wrap or out of a waffle cone that will be served at the wrap cart. The Bosco sticks are also sure to be a favorite this summer. They are deep fried breadsticks stuffed with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni served with a marinara or ranch dip. Bosco Sticks will be available at the Main Concession Stands.

The last item that fans will try for the first time this season are Cheddar Munchers, which are deep fried bites of cheddar cheese and mashed potatoes served to perfection in a 12-ounce portion. The potato and cheese appetizer will be available at the Sweet Meats Smokehouse. All items will be deep fried in non-trans fat ZFS Select soy oil.
