WICHITA FALLS, TX - Newly acquired forward Jordan Miller tallied two third period goals as the Corpus Christi IceRays won their third straight road game, 4-2, over the Wichita Falls Wildcats at the Kay Yeager Coliseum on Friday night. With the win, Corpus Christi improves to 10-11-2 (22 points) while the Wildcats drop to 14-9-2 (30 points) overall.

Michael Benedict and Jonathan Sdao had the other tallies for the IceRays as Pheonix Copley collected his third win in as many starts in between the pipes.

There was no scoring in the first period as both Eric Garavaglia and Copley made some spectacular saves to keep the game scoreless. Shots were 14-9 in favor of the Wildcats.

Corpus Christi opened the second period scoring with two goals, 58 seconds apart to take a 2-0 lead. At the 5:08 mark of the period, Jake Diamond's forechecking pressure resulted in a turnover in the slot for Jonathan Sdao (4) who wristed a shot past Garavaglia putting Corpus Christi ahead 1-0. Jason Souva also assisted on the goal. Less than a minute later, at the 6:06 mark, Benedict (12) walked in on a breakaway and beat Garavaglia on the backhand to extend the IceRays lead to 2-0. After a Tommy Dowell and Jason McAloon fight created some momentum for the Wildcats, Wichita Falls responded with two goals to tie the game before the second period ended. At 8:41, on the power play, Tanner Fahlstedt (4) snapped a shot past Copley to cut the deficit in half, 2-1. The Wildcats tied the game 15:53 when Mac Olson (13) ripped a bad angle wrist shot into the back of the net to knot the game, 2-2. The IceRays held the shot advantage, 14-12.

It did not take long for the IceRays to retake the lead though as Miller (1) tipped a Colton Saucerman shot from the point on the power play behind Garavaglia putting Corpus Christi ahead, 3-2. New arrival Mychal Monteith picked up the other assist. Miller (2) scored his second of the game into an empty-net after Pheonix Copley nearly scored from inside his own net. It was the final goal of the game as the IceRays won, 4-2. Final shots were 37-32 in favor of Wichita Falls.
