Toronto, ON (October 20, 2006) - Canadian and international recording sensation Nelly Furtado, who is tearing up the music charts at home and abroad with her internationally acclaimed CD Loose (Universal Music Canada), has been signed as the feature performer for the 2006 Rogers Grey Cup Halftime Show.
Teamed with major producer Timbaland in 2006, Furtado raised her profile to incredible heights with the diverse song collection on Loose. This multi-Platinum release features the smash hits Promiscuous and Maneater, further showcasing her versatility, creativity and hip-hop influence.
Nelly Furtado burst onto the music scene and international stage with her debut album Whoa, Nelly! which featured the timeless hit I'm Like A Bird that went on to win her the 2001 Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and four Juno Awards including Best Single. Furtado won her fifth Juno for Song of the Year for Powerless (Say What You Want) from 2003's critically-acclaimed album Folklore.
As the feature performer in the Rogers Grey Cup Halftime Show, Furtado will entertain millions of Canadian football fans during the CFL's largest annual event. CFL Commissioner Tom Wright said Nelly Furtado's presence provides an added Canadian attraction to the Cup.
"The Grey Cup is a Canadian tradition and the largest single-day sporting event in the country," Wright said. "As part of the Grey Cup entertainment experience, the CFL is proud to present Nelly Furtado in the Rogers Grey Cup Halftime Show. Rogers Communications Inc. expressed its delight to be associated with Nelly Furtado and the Grey Cup.

Nelly Furtado joins the ranks of previous Grey Cup halftime performers The Black Eyed Peas, Bryan Adams, Sam Roberts, Shania Twain and The Tragically Hip.
Grey Cup Festival Managing Director Kevin Walters said Furtado punctuates the talent assembled for the week-long extravaganza.

The 94th Grey Cup game will be broadcast live from Winnipeg, Manitoba on CBC and RDS in both official languages at 6:00 pm EST (5:00pm local time).
