Hill was a driving force for Mystic's torrid pace last week, finishing 11-for-27 (.407) at the dish while sharing the league lead in runs scored (6) with his teammate Stephen Laurino. Even more impressive was 1.133 OPS after the rising sophomore smacked two doubles and two home runs while leading the league with nine RBI. He also added a stolen base for good measure.

Ben Paulsen made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut last night for the Colorado Rockies. The 2007 Keene Swamp Bat went 2-for-4, with two singles, in Colorado's 7-2 loss to the Washington Nationals.
Paulsen is the sixth NECBL graduate to make his Big League debut this season. He becomes the 46th to play in the Majors this year and the 105th to reach the Bigs.
Paulsen's debut also marks the 10th straight year where at least a half-dozen NECBL graduates made their Major League debut.
A third round pick out of Clemson in the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Paulsen was hitting .291 and slugging .524 for Triple-A Colorado Springs at the time of his call up. His slugging percentage was 10th-best in the Pacific Coast League. The 6-foot-4 Paulsen also had 24 doubles, six triples and 15 homers in 95 PCL games.
He was a PCL All-Star this season, an MiLB.com Organizational All-Star in 2013 and a Texas League All-Star in both 2011 and 2012.
Paulsen appeared in 18 games, all starts, for the 2007 Keene Swamp Bats. He hit .318 with two homers and 11 RBI. His average was second best on the team.
MINOR LEAGUE UPDATES
Mark Leiter (Clearwater/Florida State League)
Right-handed hurler Mark Leiter of the Philadelphia High-A affiliate Clearwater Thrashers (Florida State League) enjoyed a strong week and was named the league's Pitcher of the Week.
Recently promoted to the High-A Florida State League, Leiter allowed just two earned runs, nine hits, and one walk while fanning 11 in his first two starts, totaling 16 innings on the mound.
Leiter went 0-1 with a 4.39 ERA in three starts for Laconia in 2012. He struck out 11 in 14 innings.
Grant Kay (Hudson Valley/New York-Penn League)
Second baseman Grant Kay of the Tampa Bay Single-A affiliate Hudson Valley Renegades (New York-Penn League) was named the NYPL's Player of the Week after a strong offensive showing.
In 11 games, Kay is batting at a strong .419 clip highlighted by five doubles, two triples and two home runs for a .767 slugging percentage.
Two summers ago, Kay was an All-NECBL First Team selection at second base for Western Division champion Keene. He batted .360 with 11 homers and 32 RBI. That batting average ranked fifth in the league, while his 11 home runs were third best.
RECAPPING THE 2014 NECBL ALL-STAR GAME
In a fitting end for the battle between the best the NECBL has to offer, the North Division All-Stars celebrated a walk-off, 4-3 victory in front of 2,671 fans at Mackenzie Stadium, home of the host Valley Blue Sox.
The North started off the scoring in the first frame, as Laconia's Vinny Zarillo led off with a single, reached third on an error, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Vermont's Trey Amburgey.
In the fourth, Amburgey singled to lead off the frame, followed by Mountaineers teammate Mike Vigliarolo and Laconia's Braxton Martinez singling as well to load the bases. Keene's Zach Lauricella hit into a 4-6-3 double play, but Amburgey came home.
In the sixth, the South erupted for three runs. With two away, Plymouth's Vincent Guglietti drew a walk, followed by an infield single by Newport's Nick Zammarelli. Ocean State's Ryan Blanton followed with a double to bring in Guglietti, and immediately after, teammate Drew Ferguson singled to plate both Zammarelli and Blanton.
However, trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth, the North rallied. Blue Sox second baseman Angelo La Bruna hustled on a grounder to third, forcing an errant throw, and took second on a hit-and-run play. North Adams shortstop J.C. Cardenas doubled to right to score La Bruna to tie the game. After Sanford's Drake Parker walked, Keene's Jared Mederos singled, bringing home Cardenas and sending the North All-Stars into a celebratory frenzy.
Prior to the game, players from all twelve teams participated in skills competitions. Plymouth's Michael Martin was impressive in winning both the 60-Yard Dash with a time of 6.40 seconds as well as the Outfield Throwing Accuracy Competition, while Newport's Blaise Salter put on a show to win the Home Run Derby, hitting several balls well out of the cavernous Mackenzie Stadium.
