POST SEASON EXPERIENCE: Columbus head coach Jeff Malone leads NBDL Championship Tournament coaches with 51 NBA Playoff appearances as a player. Malone, Huntsville head coach Ralph Lewis, Asheville assistant Kermit Washington and Roanoke assistant Chucky Brown combined to play in 110 NBA postseason games.
WERE THEY ANY GOOD? You betcha. Malone averaged 18.7 points per game in his 51 appearances. Washington played in just nine NBA Playoff games, but averaged 10.3 rebounds.
ALUMNI NEWS...from Wednesday in the NBA
· 12 former D-Leaguers and 3 former NBDL officials suited up for work
in 10 NBA games.
· Eddie Gill (Asheville) made the most of 11 minutes, scoring 11 points
for the Pacers
REBOUNDING RECORDS: Rodney Bias of Huntsville and James Thomas, formerly of Roanoke and now with the Atlanta Hawks, combined to break three of four individual single-season rebounding records. Bias set new marks for total rebounds (556) and offensive rebounds (221). Thomas owns the new NBDL mark for rebounds per game with 13.3
FORTE'S FAST BALL: Asheville guard Joe Forte will throw out the first pitch Friday night at the Asheville Tourists-Kannapolis Intimidators South Atlantic League baseball game.
