ALL IN A SLAY'S WORK: Asheville forward Ron Slay hit a three-pointer to send the game into overtime and then converted a pair of free throws with 2.9 seconds left in overtime to propel the Altitude past Fayetteville on Friday. The former Southeastern Conference player of the year finished the night with 21 points and eight rebounds.
ADDITIONAL TOP FRIDAY PERFORMANCES
· Asheville's Lenny Stokes scored 20 points to go with five rebounds
and five assists.
· Ernest Brown had 23 points and 12 boards for Fayetteville.
· Florida's Smush Parker dished out 12 assists and recorded three
steals.
· Huntsville's Earl Barron hit 8-of-12 FGA and scored 16 for
Huntsville.
· Rodney Bias collected 12 rebounds for Huntsville.
FRONT-RUNNING BOB: Nickelodeon star SpongeBob SquarePants will make appearances in both Columbus and Roanoke tonight. It's probably no coincidence that the Riverdragons and Dazzle are tied for first place with identical 19-10 records.
PATRICK IS A DRAGON: SpongeBob's trusty companion, Patrick the Starfish, is not as diplomatic as Bob, choosing to only attend the Huntsville at Columbus game.
STREAK SNAPPED WITH "D": The Florida Flame snapped a six-game losing skid by winning at Huntsville on Friday. Coach Dennis Johnson's club limited the Flight to just 12 points in the second quarter to propel itself to the victory.
MINI STREAK: With its overtime win against Fayetteville on Friday, the Asheville Altitude extended its win streak to a modest three games.
