SLIDE OVER BILLY: Roanoke's Matt Carroll set one NBDL single-game record and tied another while leading the Roanoke Dazzle to a victory over the Florida Flame on Wednesday. Carroll tied the record for field goals made in a game with 19 and set a new standard for field goals attempted with 33. Current New Jersey Nets guard Billy Thomas owned both marks, making 19-of-29 for the Greenville Groove on March 22, 2003.
SCORING RECORD BARELY SAFE: Carroll, who was named the NBDL player of the month for January, didn't quite match Billy Thomas' single game scoring record of 49 points (set on 3-22-03), but he did record the second-highest scoring game in NBDL history with 43 points Wednesday against the Flame.
THE DIFFERENCE: Billy Thomas made 10 threes to set the scoring record. Matt Carroll attempted and made just three from behind the arc.
SHARING THE BALL: With 14 assists Wednesday, Cory Alexander moved into a tie with Fayetteville's Omar Cook for the league lead in assists per game at 8.0. Alexander leads the lead in total assists with 216 to Cook's 208, but has played one more game that the Patriots' point man.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: "I really do owe Cory...when you come off screens, you know it's a great point guard when he puts (the ball) to you right in rhythm to shoot...there's really no one I've seen or played with who can do it better than he does." Dazzle shooting guard Matt Carroll told the Roanoke Times about his point guard and teammate Cory Alexander.
