HOW GOOD ARE THESE GUYS? If you are talking about NBDL players, then try this on for size. Thirty-eight (38) percent of current NBDL players were in NBA vet camps in October, while almost 30-percent have NBA regular-season playing experience.
MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT: Tonight is Military Appreciation Night when Fayetteville and Florida play at the Crown Coliseum. Philadelphia 76ers acrobatic mascot "Hip Hop" will entertain the crowd as the Patriots pay tribute to the service men and women at neighboring Fort Bragg, the largest military outpost in the United States.
FILL OF FULLER: Florida Flame opponents are getting their fill of Florida forward Hiram Fuller, who has averaged 16.5 points and 11.3 rebounds over his last eight games. Following Fuller, the Flame has won four of its last six.
FRIDAY'S TOP PERFORMANCES
· Huntsville forward Damone Brown scored 23 and grabbed 13 rebounds at
Columbus.
· Flight center Earl Barron scored 23 and had 10 boards in the
Huntsville victory.
· Hiram Fuller notched his 8th straight double-double with 20 points
and 10 rebounds.
· Fayetteville's Ernest Brown had 14 points and 10 rebounds against the
Flame.
ALUMNI CHECK: Former D-League players Bobby Simmons, Rafer Alston and Jason Hart all had solid numbers in starting roles for their NBA teams on Friday. Simmons scored 16 and had seven rebounds for the Clippers, Alston scored 20 for the Raptors and Hart notched 15 for the Bobcats in a matchup with Alston.
THIS WEEKEND ON NBA TV: A rebroadcast of Thursday's (1/27) edition of "This Week in the NBDL" airs Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET. The show features interviews with new Asheville assistant coach Kermit Washington, Roanoke guard Matt Carroll and Smush Parker, former Florida Flame and current Phoenix Suns guard.
