I LIKE...NBDL basketball, the Dragons and Pats playing ball, D-Leaguers getting the call...
...AND TWIN! "This Week in the NBDL", (TWIN) NBA TV's weekly show that features the NBA's minor league, airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET. The theme of this week's show is NBA 10-day contracts, with interviews from NBA scouts Michael Born (Trail Blazers) and Mark Freidinger (Spurs). There is also an interview with Columbus coach Jeff Malone and this week's all-access feature is "Life on the Road in the D-League." The show repeats on NBA TV Friday at 3 p.m. ET.
GOT W? No, that's GOTW, as in NBDL "Game of the Week" on NBA TV. This week's featured game is the Huntsville at Roanoke contest from December 23. Featured players include Cory Alexander and James Thomas from the Dazzle, as well as Damone Brown, Joe Shipp and Antoine Pettway from the Flight. Airtime is today at 4:30 p.m. ET, with a repeat Sunday at noon.
NBDL QUIZ: Although there are six NBDL teams, blue is used as an official team color seven times. Can you name the team that has two shades of blue as part of its official colors?
MERRITT AND MJ: It's a stretch, but there is a connection between Columbus Riverdragons forward Scott Merritt and NBA legend Michael Jordan. Ready for this? Merritt played at Marquette with Cordell Henry, who was a prep teammate of Quentin Richardson, who played at DePaul with former D-Leaguer and current Clipper Bobby Simmons, who played with MJ on the Wizards. Hey, we said it was a stretch.
FAMILIAR FACES: Tonight's game between Fayetteville and Columbus marks the third consecutive meeting with the Patriots for the Riverdragons. The fourth straight is Saturday at Fayetteville.
MLK SHOWCASE: The MLK Showcase, featuring every NBDL team in six games over two days, is scheduled for January 16-17 at the Columbus (Ga.) Civic Center. The schedule follows:
