BAKERSFIELD'S TREY JOHNSON NAMED NBA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE PERFORMER OF THE WEEK

Trey Johnson of the Bakersfield Jam was named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of Dec. 6. A 6-5, 215-pound guard out of Jackson State who earned two GATORADE Call-Ups to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2008-09, Johnson led Bakersfield to a 3-0 record on the week, averaging 26.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists. Johnson had 18 points and 11 assists in the Jam's 123-94 win over Idaho on Monday, Dec. 6. He followed with a 27-point performance in Bakersfield's 124-95 win against Dakota on Friday, Dec. 10, and finished the week by scoring a game-high 34 points to lead the Jam to a sweep of the Wizards with a 103-94 win on Saturday, Dec. 11.

TIMBERWOLVES RECALL JONNY FLYNN FROM SIOUX FALLS SKYFORCE

The Minnesota Timberwolves recalled second-year guard Jonny Flynn from the Sioux Falls Skyforce yesterday. Flynn appeared in one game for the Skyforce during his second stint in the D-League, dishing out 12 assists to go along with eight points and five rebounds in the Skyforce's game against Tulsa Friday night. Flynn, the sixth overall pick by Minnesota in last year's draft, started each of the 81 games he appeared in as a rookie last season. He averaged 13.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists as a rookie before missing the season finale with the hip injury that ultimately required offseason surgery.

ROCKETS RECALL PATRICK PATTERSON FROM RIO GRANDE VALLEY VIPERS

The defending NBA Development League champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced yesterday that their parent club, the Houston Rockets, has recalled power forward/center Patrick Patterson. In nine games (nine starts), Patterson averaged a team-best 18.3 points (15th in the league), 10.3 rebounds (2nd in the league) and 1.6 blocks (12th in the league). Patterson recorded double-doubles in each of his last four games, averaging 21.0 points, 12.8 rebounds and 2.7 blocks over that span. Patterson is tied for the league-lead in double-doubles with five, and is one of only three players in the league averaging a double-double.
