April 7, 2008 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
SUNDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Sunday's D-League games
v Mike Taylor led the way for Idaho with 32 points while Luke Jackson scored 27 points in the win over the Tulsa 66ers.
v Tulsa's Derrick Dial scored a team-high 23 points to go with Mike Hall's 20-point outing in a loss to the Idaho Stampede.
v Kasib Powell scored 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Sioux Falls on the night he was named D-League Most Valuable Player. Glen McGowan rounded out the evening for the Skyforce with 25 points and seven boards.
v Mad Ant Ron Howard finished with a game-high 27 points and Dahntay Jones scored 26 points in the loss to Sioux Falls.
v Justin Cage finished with 23 points and eight rebounds for Colorado as the 14ers upended the Austin Toros. Billy Thomas chipped in with 20 points as seven of eight Colorado players scored in double-figures.
v Austin's DerMarr Johnson scored 18 points and Serge Angounou, Josh Gross, and Andre Barrett each finished with 14 points in the loss.
ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS...a look at D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games
Twenty three players with D-League experience competed in 10 NBA games last night, five as starters. Here are the highlights:
v Clipper Josh Powell finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds in 37 minutes for Los Angeles.
v Aaron Brooks scored 18 points in 25 minutes for the Houston Rockets.
v Miami's Earl Barron finished with 20 points in 32 minutes, while teammate Blake Ahearn scored 9 points and dished out five assists.
D-LEAGUE PLAYOFFS 101: The 2007-08 D-League Playoffs will begin shortly after the regular season concludes on April 12 and will consist of three rounds. The first two rounds are single elimination, while the Finals will be a best-of-three series. The three division winners, as well as three wild card teams, will qualify for the 2008 D-League Playoffs. Tie breakers are, in order, head-to-head record, winning percentage against teams over .500, and point differential. The two division winners with the best records will receive byes in the first round.
PLAYOFF PICTURE: If the D-League playoffs started today, the following teams would complete the field:
1. x- Idaho Stampede 4. x-Los Angeles D-Fenders
2. Austin Toros 5. Dakota Wizards
3. x - Sioux Falls Skyforce 6. Colorado 14ers

POWELL EARNS D-LEAGUE'S TOP HONOR: Sioux Falls Skyforce forward Kasib Powell has been named the NBA Development League's Most Valuable Player for the 2007-08 season. Prior to his GATORADE Call-Up to Miami, Powell was leading the Skyforce with 22.3 points per game, shooting 50 percent from the field and 43 percent from three-point territory, to go with 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists.
