Navs Tap Into Wofford Connection
January 26, 2016 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL)
North Shore Navigators News Release
Lynn, MA - Hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow Wofford teammates Matt Ramsey and James Plaistad, Mack Nathanson and Alex Malsch will be part of the 2016 Navigators when the FCBL season gets underway at Fraser Field in June. Ramsey and Plaistad were Navs in 2014, then returned to campus and were the top 2 hitters for the Terriers in 2015. The Navigators Wofford connection- assistant coach JJ Edwards- is certainly hoping it is déjà vu all over again with Malsch and Nathanson.
Nathanson, a 6'1" 190-pound sophomore from Delray Beach, Florida played scholastically at North Broward Prep where he earned All Conference as a junior and Second Team All Conference as a senior. Recruited as a catcher, he will play LF and DH for both Wofford and the Navs. Getting considerable playing time as a freshman, he belted 4 home runs in 86 at-bats. Mack lists his favorite sports team as the Boston Red Sox! A trip to Fenway is sure to be part of his summer!
Malsch started all four years at St. Joseph's Prep in Greer, South Carolina, helping the team to three state titles. He hit .531 as a senior and earned All State honors. He also played football at St. Joe's. The 6'1" sophomore has the inside track on the shortstop job for the Springs Terriers. The Navigators will use him at short as well as second and third.
Navigators baseball returns on Opening Night- Saturday, June 4th- complete with all of the fun and excitement that has become a staple at historic Fraser Field.
