North Shore Navigators News Release

Lynn, Massachusetts -- The North Shore Navigators have announced that they have signed four local players for the upcoming summer season. Kyle Gauthier, Alex Markakis, Kyle Devin, and Ryley MacEachern have all agreed to suit up and play for the Navigators. The announcement came from Head Coach Jon Cahill on Friday afternoon at Frasier Field.

Kyle Gauthier, a Lynn native, is a graduate of Lynn Classical High School who currently attends the University of Hartford majoring in Heath Science. Gauthier is a right-handed pitcher who the Navigators will look to as a strong arm on the pitching staff. "Kyle is a very projectable young arm,"said Hartford coach Justin Blood. "He has a couple of above average pitches to work with already and we only expect for those to continue to develop. We believe Kyle will be a major contributor on our pitching staff for the coming years."

Alex Markakis, a Lynnfield native, will be returning to the Navigators for a second season. Markakis is currently a junior at St. Joseph's College in Maine, where he is studying finance. Last season Markakis batted .300 for the Navigators including 5 doubles, 15 RBIs, and a triple. Markakis followed that impressive regular season by hitting .333 in the playoffs. Last season at St. Joseph's Markakis hit .308 including 44 total bases and a slugging percentage of .411. The Navigators will look to Markakis' big bat to help produce runs this season.

Kyle Devin, a Lynn native, will be entering his freshman year at Stony Brook University in the fall. Currently, Devin is a senior at Lynn Classical High School where he has a GPA of 3.7. Devin is ranked as the third best high school player in Massachusetts, as well as the 31st ranked catcher in the United States. Devin is 6-foot 1-inch, and 225 pounds and is known for using his power to hit the ball to all parts of the ballpark. Devin's athleticism, ability to hit for both power and average, and his skills as a defensive catcher are sure to be essentials to the Navigator's 2013 season.

Ryley MacEachern, a Saugus native, will be entering his freshman year at Stony Brook University in the fall. Currently MacEachern is a senior at Salisbury Prep in Connecticut. MacEachern, a right-handed pitcher, is currently ranked as the top prospect in Connecticut. MacEachern's fastball is consistently in the upper 80s and tops out at 90 MPH. Last spring MacEachern went 6-0 with a sub-2.00 ERA. The Navigators will look to MacEachern to be a force in the rotation.

The Navigators home opener is Saturday, June 8th at 7:00 PM. Season tickets and part deck reservations are available now by calling the Navs at 781.595.9400. For details and schedule information, "like" us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter .
