Lynn, Mass. - Trailing by two heading into the sixth inning, the North Shore Navigators rallied for eight runs to top the Brockton Rox, 8-2, at Fraser Field on Wednesday night in Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) action.
North Shore (8-3) continues to hold sole possession of first place in the FCBL, while Brockton (4-7) has its two-game winning streak snapped.
After two scoreless frames, Brockton struck first in the top of the third inning as Mansfield's Rhett Wiseman (Vanderbilt) singled to score Tanner Reibenspies (San Diego State). The Rox followed with another run two innings later, as Scituate's Jordan Berry (George Washington) doubled to drive in Cohasset native Rob McCunney (Fordham) and give Brockton a 2-0 lead.
The Navigators came alive offensively in the bottom of the sixth with back-to-back singles to lead off the frame. That's when Jake McGuiggan (Harvard) ripped a two-run double to tie the game at two. Moments later, Aaron Silbar (Columbia) laced a single to plate McGuiggan and give the hosts a 3-2 lead.
North Shore continued the offensive barrage in the seventh, as again the Navigators opened up the inning with two straight singles. Tim Hendricks (Benedictine) stepped in and launched an RBI double to put North Shore up by two. After Tony Serino (UMass Amherst) singled to score a pair of runs, the Navigators added another run on an RBI fielder's choice from Silbar, and then plated one more in the eighth on a wild pitch to take an 8-2 lead.
Rox starter Jonathan Rosenberger (Newberry) cruised through five frames before surrendering three runs in the sixth. The right-hander scattered eight hits in 5.2 innings while walking none and striking out three in his first loss of the season (0-1).
North Shore's Bobby Dean (Rhode Island) lasted four innings in his second start against the Rox, allowing one run on five hits and three walks, while striking out three in the no-decision.
Crayton Bare (Baylor) earned the win (1-0) after striking out four and walking just one in three shutout innings of relief.
Patrick Raley (Charlotte) finished 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Serino went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored to lead the Navigators. Hendricks went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and run scored, while Silbar finished 2-for-4 with two RBI.
