As the baseball season for 2012 gets ready for one final act, the North Shore Navigators are getting ready for 2013 and their second season with Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

For the 2013 season, the Navigators have received commitments from returning players Joe Gruntkosky (St Joseph College of Maine) and Pat Raley (a member of the UNC/Charlotte 49ers baseball squad).

Gruntkosky will be a front-of-the-rotation starter for the Navigators next summer after going 3-1 in 9 starts in 2012 for the Navs. His 1.84 ERA led all Navigators starters and he was voted the Navs pitcher of the year by his teammates. The Peabody, MA native figures to be a key component for the St. Joe's Monks talented pitching staff in the spring of 2013. The junior has enjoyed 2 productive seasons for the Monks who are hopeful to make a long run in this year's Division III College World Series. The right-handed Gruntkosky had an outstanding scholastic career and was the Lynn Item Player of the Year his senior season of high school.

Returning for a second season is the Franklin, TN native Pat Raley. Raley will be one of 3 catchers the Navigators hope to carry in 2013. Raley, who has great baseball genes -- his father played professionally in the Detroit Tigers organization and his uncle spent time in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system -- hit .320 for the 2012 Navs playing in 33 games. The red shirt sophomore will hope to build on that this spring for the 49ers.

The Navigators are members of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League and play their home games at Lynn's historic Fraser Field. The best buy in sports anywhere -- a Navigators 4-pack season's pass -- is on sale now. For $100 fans can get a pass good for FOUR admissions to all 27 home games.
