With less than a week remaining until opening day the North Shore Navigators have released a schedule of opening week events:

On Thursday June 6th, the Navigators will hold a preseason exhibition game against the Royal Rooters Men's Baseball League as well as host their annual Media Day. This game will also double as a reading day field trip for 30 schools and almost 1600 school children. The Navigator players will speak to the children regarding the importance of reading and getting an education.

On Friday June 7th, the Navigators will travel to Pittsfield to open up their season against the Pittsfield Suns, but before they hit the road they will be stop by Greater Lynn Senior Services (GLSS) for a meet and greet.

On Saturday June 8th, the Navigators will open up their 2013 home schedule as they play host to the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. In a pre-game ceremony, the first pitch will be thrown and the national anthem will be sung by Mayor Judy Flanagan Kennedy. The Navigators will also be introducing their new promotion, the Major League Hero of the game. This on-field promotion, which is sponsored by Anheuser Busch, will honor a person every game that has made a significant contribution to the surrounding community.

The first recipient of the Major League Hero of the game award will be Lynn firefighter, EMT, and veteran Matt Patterson. Patterson will be honored for his heroic actions in both the war in Afghanistan and on Patriot's Day at the Boston Marathon bombings.

Lastly, on June 9th, the Navigators will play host to the Torrington Titans in a 5:00 PM tilt. The Navigators were able to defeat the Titans in the first round of the FCBL playoffs last season. After the game, children are welcomed to come onto the field and play catch and run the bases. The Navigators, as they will every Sunday, will play in their 1946 Lynn Red Sox uniforms. There
