Naturals Win Fourth Straight

Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
SPRINGDALE, Ark. - Northwest Arkansas (3-0, 28-45) won it's fourth-consecutive game Thursday night, topping the Tulsa Drillers (0-3, 38-34) 4-2 in the series opener behind a stellar night of pitching by the Naturals.
Jason Adam held the Drillers to two runs over his five and a third innings of work. The righty was particularly impressive tonight as he struck out 10 hitters matching Tim Melville for the most punch outs recorded in a game by a starting pitcher during the 2014 season. He exited the contest with the lead and would earn the win improving to 2-6 on the year.
Tulsa took the lead before Northwest Arkansas had the opportunity to bat, but Cheslor Cuthbert drove Lane Adams home on a double to tie the game in the bottom half of the first. Adams played a role in giving the Naturals the lead a few innings later by smashing his sixth homer of the season in the third, putting the team up 2-1 over Tulsa. The Royals 18th-ranked prospect homered twice through his first 67 games, but has now hit four home runs over his last three contests.
After Tulsa tied the game in the fourth, it was Micah Gibbs' turn to get into the act offensively and he did by smacking a two-out two-run double scoring Cuthbert and Justin Trapp on the play. That gave Northwest Arkansas a 4-2 lead and that was all the support the pitching staff needed as it held Tulsa scoreless over the remainder of the game.
LHP Scott Alexander and RHP Angel Baez each earned a hold for combining to toss two and two-thirds scoreless innings. The 2014 Texas League All-Star, RHP Andrew Triggs, entered in the ninth and collected his team-leading ninth save of the season. Triggs has come into a save situation in his last six appearances and has converted five of them. Between Adams and the bullpen, the Naturals combined to match the club's season high in strikeouts with 15, Alexander had two, Baez had one and Triggs added two to the final tally.
Northwest Arkansas will look to stay perfect in the second half tomorrow, Friday, June 20 and win its fifth-straight game behind RHP Tim Melville (1-6, 3.68) on Strike's birthday featuring a Post-Game Fireworks Spectacular presented by BIC. The Drillers will send the Colorado Rockies' top prospect RHP Jon Gray (6-3, 3.39) to the mound.
You can catch all live play-by-play action with the Voice of the Naturals Benjamin Kelly on your home for the Naturals 92.1 the Ticket at 6:50 p.m. Indigo Sky Casino Pregame Show leading up to first pitch.
