Native American National Team Head Coach & GM Dave Taylor Fired

January 15, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Native America News Release

Toronto, ON – President Basketball Operations Spider Ledesma formally announced from his downtown office in Toronto that Native America has fired Head Coach & GM Dave Taylor, effective immediately.

Mr. Taylor was not contacted for comment.

Keeping his word and staying in the loop were the core issues according to the President. "Mr. Taylor did not keep his word on simple statements and about getting back to my office when he said he would and he was tardy often or altogether absent concerning keeping me advised of team progress and/or sponsorship talks. Along with keeping his word Mr. Taylor was very much out of the loop and we had to go to extra lengths to contact him on a weekly basis. I felt Mr. Taylor did not respect the fact that all of us have a lot on our plates and getting back to one another in a timely and courteous manner was not a value to him whatsoever. It is in fact one of the highest values for Native America and a professional courtesy extended within our administrative leadership to everyone in the organization and without," said Ledesma. "Our next Head Coach & GM has to be and will be of the understanding that him and myself meet weekly in person or via teleconference to discuss all aspects of our team and its progress to date, including the business side of our athletic operations and how it affects what we can do on the athletic side."

When asked what the Native American National Team would be looking for in its next Head Coach Spider responded, "We have to find an experienced Head Coach who brings decisive and prepared, winning leadership and who also has strong ties to immediate sponsorship and/or investment. It is imperative our Head Coach bring market value to our business model and bottom line immediately. We have to continue building our business model to support our entire corporate and athletic operations. We have a list of a few people we are thinking of talking to in regards to our Head Coaching vacancy but we also hope there are qualified contacts who will contact us via our website at www.AWarriorsSoul.com to enquire about our Head Coaching position. We are open to discussing the position with all interested and qualified candidates. We emphasize qualified because again the interested candidate must have immediate access to five and six-figure sponsorship and/or investment opportunities. We hope to have a new Head Coach & GM announced within the next 2 to 6 weeks."

All interested and qualified applicants are encouraged to contact the Native American National Team and the office of the President Basketball Operations immediately to apply.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
