National Women's Soccer League Launches Game Changers Series Presented by Ally

January 11, 2022 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) News Release


CHICAGO - In collaboration with Ally, the National Women's Soccer League this week kicks off the first episode in Game Changers, a series devoted to showcasing the diverse group of NWSL athletes and their stories off the pitch. The series focuses on five specific topics, including the Black Women's Player Collective, LGBTQ+, family, overcoming adversity and small business.

"These players deserve recognition for the influence they have in their communities and their commitment to making things better for the next generation," said Stephanie Marciano, head of sports and entertainment marketing at Ally. "It is an incredible privilege for Ally to share the stories of these disruptors in their own words as they continue to change the game on and off the field."

Game Changers premieres Thursday, January 13 on the NWSL Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube channels. The first episode will spotlight former Houston Dash forward Jamia Fields, who during her time with the Houston Dash launched Stoic Los Angeles, a high-fashion clothing brand.

Additional features include NJ/NY Gotham FC defender Imani Dorsey and her work with the BWPC, Chicago Red Stars back Arin Wright on balancing raising a family and playing professional soccer, OL Reign midfielder Quinn on using their platform to bring awareness to gender equity and inclusion initiatives, and Orlando Pride midfielder Erika Tymrak on her journey back to the field after retiring in 2019 to focus on her mental health.

"The work we're doing with the Black Women's Player Collective is hugely important to the prosperity of both the sport of soccer and those who find joy in it," said Gotham FC defender Imani Dorsey. "I'm honored to be able to share the BWPC's vision and showcase what we're doing to make our sport a safe, enriching and equitable space for all. Thank you to Ally for giving game changers in this league a platform to tell our stories and promote our missions."
